WHAT’S NFWM?

nfwmThe National Farm Worker Ministry (NFWM) is a faith-based organization that supports farm workers who are organizing for equality and justice.

NFWM began in 1920 as a ministry of charity and service, providing food, clothing and day care to farm workers. When United Farm Workers (UFW) founder Cesar Chavez began organizing in the 1960s, he called on the religious community to change its emphasis from charity to justice.

NFWM

NFWM responded to the call and has continued its focus on social and economic justice ever since. Its members work side by side with farm workers by organizing boycotts and vigils, picketing, marching, and educating constituents.

Through these actions, NFWM brings together national denominations, state councils of churches, religious orders and congregations, and concerned individuals to act with farm workers to achieve fundamental change in their living and working conditions.
